MANILA – Bohol is fast-gaining its momentum as a popular destination, thanks in part to its continuous exposures in national travel marts over the years.
Eleanor Ng, senior manager for the domestic travel division of Baron Travel Corporation, said its tourism council participation was effective in stirring serious interest.
Ng and other tour operators ranked it fourth after Cebu, Boracay and Palawan.
T.R.I.P.S. is one of the tour operators which has begun preparing a package for the foreign market. Managing director Chiqui Teotico said he was working on an eco-adventure package which will include dolphin- and whale-watching, forest trek to see the tarsier in its natural habitat, cruise along Loboc River and visit to the Chocolate Hills. The package will be marketed to the US and Europe markets.
More popular before as a day-trip destination from neighboring island Cebu, tour operators said visitors are now opting to stay in Bohol much longer. Ferry services link the two islands.
