Malaysia’s differentiator (Special report: CITM 2008)

SHANGHAI - With the rest of the world eyeing the same source market, it is a very competitive playing field out there. And Tourism Malaysia deputy minister, Dato Sri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib, knows this only too well.

When asked about main challenge of growing Malaysia’s China arrival arrivals, he said “The competition. We tend to see a lot more innovative products from other countries and these countries tend to mimic each other, I think we have to make a difference in what we stand for.”

The deputy minister is Malaysia’s head of delegation at CITM, which he considers to be the most important venue in China in promoting Malaysia. “Every year, we do participate and it is important that we try and portray Malaysia as an easy destination for Chinese
